In line with the latest government announcement the current arrangements of being open for outside service only will remain in place until at least 2nd November. Until then we will be open Thursday to Sunday from 3pm to 8pm. Please note the slightly earlier opening time each day and that Elson has the remit to remain open or close early dependent on weather and attendance.

We will be entitled to a further grant due to being unable to use the inside bar area but we don't yet know how much this will be. Our trade throughout the restrictions has remained steady but we can accommodate more customers such is the amount of outside space that we have available.

The fire cage is proving to be a huge success but is devouring fuel at an alarming rate - the bonfire supply is almost empty already. Firelighters have been purchased and those arriving at the club early are encouraged to assist Elson in lighting the fire.

Three tonnes of logs have been purchased at a cost of £225 to top up the existing supplies. Member donations of old timber, fencing etc. to top up our supply would be most welcome and regular attenders may wish to consider a donation of £10 as a contribution to the next log purchase. Elson will take receipt of all donations - please do support these initiatives if you can.

The marquee will be relocated into the main lawn area of the Club Centre from the garden area of 1 Bayview Road after the Scouts Halloween Party on 31st October.

There is little progress to report on our insurance claim, largely due to the school holidays. However the removal of the asbestos in the basement will start on Monday 26th October, the insurers having confirmed that we are insured for the associated removal costs. The heating system requires major alteration but work on this can only start once the insurance claim is fully determined.
