AGS FP Club Canadian Centre 25th Annual Reunion Weekend - Vancouver, BC - September 8th to 10th, 2017
Greetings from Vancouver Island! This is a special year for the Canadian Centre - our Secretary, Gillian Thomas, is President of the AGS FP Club and it is our 25th Annual Reunion Weekend. We do hope you can plan to join us.
Please let me know if you are planning to attend. Thank you.
All the arrangements for the functions are in place and the details are as follows:

Friday, September 8th, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Bard and Banker www.bardandbanker.com
1022 Government Street, Victoria

The Bard and Banker is a traditional-style pub housed in a former bank building in the heart of downtown Victoria. (Bard refers to Robert Service, the Bard of Yukon, who was an employee of the bank before heading north). We will meet in the Sam McGee Room for drinks and finger foods. This private room has great atmosphere, a covered indoor patio area with views of the Inner Harbour and plenty room for circulating. After the get-together we are welcome to stay on in the Sam McGee Room and order dinner from the regular menu.
Cost: $15 per person (to cover room rental and finger foods)
Dress: Casual

Saturday, September 9th, 6:00 p.m. for 7:00 p.m.
University Club, University of Victoria club.uvic.ca
25th Annual Reunion Dinner

We have held our dinner at the University Club (formerly the Faculty Club) on two previous occasions, and are happy to be returning this year.
Cost: $65 per person (to cover 3-course dinner, room rental, bar tender, taxes and gratuities). We have decided not to include wine in the cost of the meal this year. There will be a cash bar in the room during the evening.
Dress: Jacket/blazer and tie

Sunday, September 10th, 11:00 a.m.
8723 Cordero Crescent, North Saanich, BC, V8L 5E6
Brunch at Peter and Judy's

Our home is approx. 30 minutes north of downtown Victoria, and only a 10-15 drive from the airport and two ferry terminals with crossings to Vancouver (Tsawwassen) and Anacortes, Washington. We are also only fifteen minutes away from the Brentwood Bay ferry, a pleasant 20-minute shortcut to Hwy 1 going north up the island. Let me know if you need any help with planning your onward travels. Please remember to bring school photos and other memorabilia to bring back memories!
Dress: Casual

Menu options and final details will be emailed in the 3rd week of August to those who have indicated that they will be attending. Meanwhile, please contact me if you have any questions. Have a wonderful summer, and we are looking forward to seeing you in September.

AGSFP Glasgow Centre - Curling Section
The AGSFP Glasgow Centre has competed for the last 12 years in the local 6 team Wanderers League against Strathallians, Merchistonians, Glasgow Accies, Old Glenalmond and Kelvinside Accies, all FP clubs. Frequently last, but we achieved 3rd place in season 13/14 and 4th place last year.

Our current squad is Alastaur Fyall, Jim Leask, Margery Taylor, Stefan Colling and Malcolm Gauld but we would be delighted to accept new volunteers for our 5 game season.

Anyone interested in joining should contact Malcom Gauld, the Centre President, on mwrg@hotmail.com

The Grammar at War 1914-18
From kilted heroes in Flanders dug-outs to strategists and technologists who shaped the 1914-18 conflict, Grammar FPs made an astonishing contribution to the Imperial war effort. The Grammar at War 1914-18 traces that effort and the sacrifice made by hundreds of FPs not just on the Western Front, but in theatres of war as different as the Mesopotamian deserts, the treacherous coves of Gallipoli and the frozen wastes of northern Russia..
